Interesting problems: an API that needs building, infrastructure that needs tidying, a bug nobody can pin down.

Where I’ve worked

2025 → now

Open a row for what the company does and what I did there.

  1. Makers of Notch, safety reporting for industrial sites.

    • Lead six engineers across Austria and India: roadmap, architecture, sprint planning, and every merge.
    • Shipped Notch as a NestJS API, a Next.js console and an Expo app, live in seven languages.
    • Replaced per-seat SaaS with 20+ self-hosted services on three Linux servers.

  2. Smart toothbrushes and water flossers, made for India.

    • Read the Bluetooth Low Energy traffic off the device and rebuilt the protocol: framing, handshakes, errors.
    • Wrote a typed React Native SDK with 120 unit tests and a fake transport that replays captured sessions.
    • Owned the platform end to end after that: roadmap, API architecture, review, and releases.

  3. Creative, media and technology agency, India and UK.

    • Built AI Adapts in Second Brain, the agency’s AI workspace: one approved creative, resized for every platform without breaking the brand.
    • Rebuilt the transcript pipeline behind Echo, the bot that joins client meetings and files the notes.
    • Shipped the post generator and QC bot workflows, and helped on the slide and PPT generators.

  4. Chat, voice and video SDKs for apps.

    • Built a WhatsApp-style reference app on the real-time messaging SDK, used to demo the platform to prospects.
    • Extended the UI Kit with custom components and wrote the workarounds up as customer implementation guides.

Catching plant hazards before they injure someone

Factory workers report a hazard from their phone, safety officers triage it in the browser, and managers hear about it before the deadline passes rather than after. I designed it and shipped all three surfaces with the team.

NestJS API, Next.js console, Expo app. Deadline-escalation engine that warns managers before a report breaches its response target, role-scoped access per plant, and an LLM translation pipeline with provider fallback across OpenRouter and Google.

Second Brain chat: a brand-scoped conversation, with Chat, Meetings and Image tabs and a Workflow entry in the sidebar.

Schbang · 2025 → 2026

One workspace for the agency’s knowledge, meetings and creative work

Second Brain is Schbang’s internal AI workspace: chat that knows each brand, Echo, a bot that sits in client meetings and files the notes, and workflows that turn a brief into finished work. I built AI Adapts, which takes one approved creative and resizes it for every platform without breaking the brand, shipped the post generator and QC bot, helped on the slide and PPT generators and the meetings screens, and wrote the handover when I left.

Node.js and Express on Postgres, Pinecone and S3, with a Next.js front end. I built AI Adapts end to end: brand logos and reference images, an image-analysis pass before generation, model choice, 2K and 4K upscales, progress streamed over SSE, and stuck jobs recovered when the browser disconnects. For Echo, I rewrote the transcript pipeline: audio chunks processed in parallel, speakers matched from three Recall.ai data sources, and transcripts people can edit. Also the post generator, QC bot, RAG eval and feedback dashboards, Google Drive import, and the handover docs.

Risograph print: signal rings spreading from a dot toward a device, with a row of decoded bytes between them.

One device on my desk, and no datasheet for it

A connected oral-care device with no protocol documentation. I had the hardware, so I worked out what it was saying byte by byte, wrote it down as a typed SDK, and covered it with tests so the rest of the team could build the app without the device in their hands.

Sniffed the Bluetooth Low Energy traffic off the real device, reconstructed framing, handshakes and error cases, and wrote a typed React Native SDK with 120 unit tests and a fake transport that replays captured sessions. Owned the platform end to end after that: roadmap, API architecture, review, releases, and the self-hosted infrastructure under it.

Dokploy monitoring for PlanetPulse’s servers: CPU, memory, disk and Docker usage graphs.

PlanetPulse · dokploy-selfhost-starter

The company’s software bill, replaced with servers I run

Project management, wiki, password vault, support, finance and payroll: all of it now runs on our own servers instead of per-seat subscriptions. I designed it, I operate it, and I wrote down how, so other small teams can copy it.

20+ services across three Linux servers on Dokploy and Traefik, Logto for single sign-on, Cloudflare for DNS, CDN and email authentication, offsite backups to Backblaze B2. The open-source starter carries the parts vendor docs leave out: monorepo Dockerfiles, Compose, DNS and email records, restores.

Everything so far, squashed into one pull request.
